Value Stream Management for Lean Healthcare is an excellent collection and explanation of Lean and quality improvements tools to date. The main ED case study is explained in simple, real-type actions demonstrating on how Lean tools can be applied in a continuous improvement project. The solutions are real and one can tell this book was written by those in the field of healthcare. I plan on purchasing these for all supervisors and directors that are in continuous improvement projects. Everything is this book, from the Publisher’s Message to the final OR case study in the Appendix, is very useful. This will become my Lean healthcare bible for years to come.

If I Had to Buy Only One Book on How to Improve Healthcare, This Would Be the Book, May 28, 2009

This review is from: Value Stream Management for Lean Healthcare (Perfect Paperback)

I pleasantly found Value Stream Management for Lean Healthcare to be the most comprehensive and practical, how-to guide, for implementing continuous improvement in healthcare. The authors definitely speak to their vast knowledge and experience from applying Lean in healthcare. This book has the most complete, detailed, ED improvement case study found, but also has a great financial analysis explanation of how to realize financial gains through these type projects, a waste audit, mini-case studies throughout, as well as the very useful Appendix (which could almost be a book on its own). We will be using this book as main reference in all our Lean-Sigma projects and will be purchasing these for all our managers. Great job authors!
