Foreword by Michael F. Gutzeit, M.D., Chief Medical Officer and Vice President of Quality, Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin This practical, how-to book clearly and succinctly takes the reader through six proven success steps for implementing lean in any healthcare environment: 1. LEAN DOCTORS explains how to make LEAN work in healthcare, May 5, 2010

Perhaps the most important value of the book is that it makes LEAN accessible to the health care manager / provider who typically thinks in terms of events not process. LEAN DOCTORS distills Lean concepts and principles into practical steps that will “work” in the health care setting. If your looking for a very good MAP that will provide direction to increased patient flow, and staff and customer satisfaction this is a must read – we are using it as the guide in our OR’s and in a high volume outpatient clinic.

OM^2 is easy to read, has tons of case studies and examples, and contains review cards at the end with all the main concepts, some examples, and all the key terms contained on a single sheet for each chapter.

I would recommend this book to anyone beginning to learn the concepts of Operations Management.
