I have the opportunity to assist a small local company applying Six Sigma principles. I have quite a bit of Six Sigma training and tools to assist me (not to mention my MBA and such.) I have yet to meet with the company owner to get the low down about any opportunities with the company.
I want to make as big of an impact to this company while rigourously applying Six Sigma. Does anyone have suggestions as to attributes to look for when selecting my project?
Would any Black Belt or Master Black Belt be interested in mentoring me via email/phone while I lead this project?
Please advise.
Do you know about iSixSigma.com? You might check them out and pose the question on their board. There are also plenty of articles in their archive – accessible for free – that address topics like how to select and qualify a project.
(WARNING about their Q&A board: There are a lot of pricks on their board – holier-than-thou @sses whose purpose in life seems to be to show how much they know and that you don’t. Still, it’s worth looking and asking – just be prepared.)
