Knowledge and Skill Application (60 points)
For the following section, there are seven questions to chose from worth 10 points each. You will choose and answer only six of them, for a total of 60 points possible on this section of the exam.

1.Accessing Information (10 points)
a.List five reliable sources of health information.
b.List the five questions you should ask yourself when trying to determine if a source of health information is reliable and trustworthy.

2.Analyzing Influences (10 points)
a. List and describe three external influences that may affect how a person feels about himself. Explain how each influence may affect how a person feels about himself.
b. List and describe two internal influences that may affect how a person feels about herself. Explain how each influence may affect how a person feels about herself.
Hint: It may help to think about your "sense of self" when answering this question.

3.Decision Making (10 points)
You are away at a summer camp, and are meeting new people. One night your new friends wake you up and ask if you want to sneak out to a private party. You want people to like you, so you go. But when you arrive you realize that people are taking some sort of drug. This really isn’t your scene, so what do you do?
a.List the five decision-making steps.
b.Explain how you would make your decision using the five decision-making steps.

4.Goal Setting (10 points)
a.Create a short-term goal that will help you improve some aspect of your health. It can relate to diet, exercise, stress reduction, risk prevention, or anything else you can think of that has to do with improving your health.
b.Write an action plan for achieving this goal using the four goal-setting steps. Be sure to include specific steps you will take and what you need to do during or for each step.

5.Interpersonal Communication (10 points)
Your friend wants to cheat on the next big exam. You really don’t want to cheat, and don’t want your friend to, either. This is a good time to demonstrate your refusal skills.

a.First, list the four essential components (or parts) of effective refusal.
b.Then demonstrate how you would use the essential components to communicate your refusal to your friend.
c.Finally, list two possible consequences of cheating on an exam.

6.Self-Management (10 points)
a.Explain the difference between a sprain, a strain, and a fracture.
b.Explain the at-home procedure for treating minor strains and sprains.
b.Explain the importance of purchasing quality athletic gear.

7.Advocacy (10 points)
Think of a possible advocacy project that is important to you. Write a short summary of the project. Then, write an action plan for that project. Include your message, your target audience, and anyone else who might want to help. Then, list and describe at least two activities you could do to raise awareness of the issue or bring change. Make sure your advocacy project is new: Do not use any examples from the course.
